Motorola V325
So I just got a new phone, the Motorola V325, which seems to be a pretty decent phone.
Its got a mini-usb port for data and charging - which is cool.
Not so cool, actually, cause Motorola tries to gimp this phone to hell and back.
- To get data to work, you need to install the Motorola Phone Tools v4 (comes with most RAZR phones, or you can buy it online). This allows you to get your phonebook and stuff, but not much else. To get your rings, wallpapers, etc onto the phone, you'll need to follow the instructions on HowardForums and use BitPim to do your editing (set your device as a RAZR v3c or V710, they all use the same OS). There are also some other edits (that may void your warranty or damage your phone) available from links on that site.
- No Vibrate and Ring - but again, there are edits/hacks available
- The phone only allows for 'authorized' chargers, that is, ones provided by your wireless provider. This is a HUGE turnoff for me, because the thing that finally sold me on the phone was the thought that I could charge it anywhere with a USB cable. This is not the case. I'm currently still looking for a hack that might disable this, but I'm not too confident. I'll update with more info on this later
