Fire!?
A wildfire burned near my home yesterday. Pretty impressive looking, I can't wait until I can see some aerial photos of the area, because its hard to see exactly where the fire came and went from the ground.
I don't know if we would have even known something was going on until some crazy woman ran through the apartment complex yelling 'Fire! Fire!' while banging on doors. I hopped up and yelled back 'excuse me?' and she explained theres a grass fire approaching. It was still a good mile away when we went to look. Reverse-911 told us that there was no danger, and the fire was pretty well contained on our side of Indiana street. The reverse-911 call did say to prepare in case we were to be evacuated, so we did some preparing and did something we should have already done - took pictures of a bunch of the more important or expensive things for recordkeeping.
It did burn a good swath on a rancher's property next door (the owner was on the news), but it was pretty well controlled since fire crews were already up there controlling the burn. That was only about a quarter mile away from our place.
So yeah, some excitement for a Sunday afternoon.
